A calzone is basically a pizza dough that’s rolled out, stuffed with your favorite pizza-like fillings, wrapped up and baked. Often-times it’s served with a side of marinara sauce for dipping. Calzones are a family favorite for dinner. They’re easy to make at home
These calzones are great to keep in the freezer for a quick meal at a moment’s notice. Bake all 8 at once, or just a couple, depending on how many you need.
ingredients:
1 basic pizza dough (recipe posted earlier in feeds)
Fillings of your choice (do not exceed 5 as it is just too much)
Pizza blend shredded cheese
pinch of garlic powder
pinch of basil
1 T. butter
Directions:
Prepare pizza dough, roll out into a 12″ circle. Place a layer of cheese on the lower half of dough then your topping and another layer of cheese. Fold top half over and seal the edges by pinching and rolling inward. Melt butter and stir in basil and garlic powder, brush over the top of the calzone. Using a knife, place a few slits across the top for steam to escape. Bake at 425 degrees for 15-12 minutes. Serve with a side of warm pizza sauce.
ENJOY!
